I bought a few old pashminas on my last visit to India. I have a serious passion for these shawls. I love that they are worn, have a history, have been fixed and mended and have a stain here and there. they have lived.
The shawls are between 40-50 years old. and are made in 100% pashmina, they are handwowen, and the embroidery is so beautiful, a particular selection of colours on each and every piece.
the mending of the shawls is called RAFU, and has been practiced for centuries. Pashmina shawls has always been a status symbol in India, and something you look after, and passon to the next generation.
the word PURAANA means old in Hindi.
They all meassure: ca. 100x200cm, its a womens size shawl.
Please ask for more photos of the shawl you would like, so I can send you the 'perfect flaws' that each one has.
